THE SIN OF FORNICATION
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators…shall inherit the kingdom of God.
Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication … shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Ephesians 5:5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger [or fornicator], nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers [or fornicators], and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
Revelation 22:15 For without (the city) are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers [or fornicators], and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
 
FORNICATION DEFINED BIBLICALLY
  • It is biblically defined as any unlawful sexual intercourse with the opposite sex or the same sex or a beast.  So, fornication is having recreational or casual sex. 
  • It is to have sex without any intention to be committed to one spouse in a life long commitment of love.
  • It also includes: adultery, homosexuality, lesbianism, or beastuality.  Fornication also covers any and all forms of sexual immorality or perversion.
fornication is  “great” wickedness
Genesis 39:7-9 And it came to pass after these things, that his master’s wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me. 8 But he refused, and said unto his master’s wife… 9 There is none greater in this house than I ; neither hath he (Pharaoh) kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?
 
Sodom and Gomorrha practiced fornication
Jude 7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. 
 
THEIR SIN WAS VERY GREVIOUS
Genesis 18:20 And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous.
Genesis 13:13 But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly.
 
Fornication is in the evil heart of men
Mark 7:21-22 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: 
 
FORNICATION IS A WORK OF THE FLESH
Galatians 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness.
 
The body is not for fornication
1 Corinthians 6:13-14 Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body. 14 And God hath both raised up the Lord (bodily), and will also raise up us (bodily) by his own power.
 
FORNICATION DEFILES THE MARRIAGE BED
Hebrews 13:4 Marriage (one flesh) is honorable among all, and the (marriage) bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.
 
 
THE BED UNDEFILED IS THE “ONE FLESH” MARRIAGE UNION
Genesis 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife (by having sex): and they shall be one flesh (marriage – the bed undefiled).
 
God joins two into one FLESH in the act of sex
Matthew 19:6 Wherefore they are no more two, but one flesh (marriage – the bed undefiled). What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
 
ONE FLESH WITH A HARLOT
1 Corinthians 6:16 What? know ye not that he which is joined (in sex) to a harlot (a practicing fornicator or prositute – sex with multiple partners) is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh (by the act of sex).  17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. 18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication (present, active) sinneth against his own body.
 
fornication can be in the church
1 Corinthians 5:1 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father’s wife.
 
SAVED PEOPLE CAN LIVE IN FORNICATION
2 Corinthians 12:21 And lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you (the local church at Corinth), and that I shall bewail many which have sinned already, and have not repented of the uncleanness and fornication and lasciviousness which they have committed.
 
A brother can be a fornicator
1 Corinthians 5:11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
 
Put them out of the church
1 Corinthians 5:13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves (in the local church)  that wicked person (a fornicator).
 
Let it not be once named among the church
Ephesians 5:3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints  
 
the Doctrine of Balaam in the church leads to fornication
Revelation 2:14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.
 
HOW TO AVOID FORNICATION
  1. Do not touch a woman  (Celibacy)

    1 Corinthians 7:1 Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman (to remain celibate).

     
  2. Have one spouse and let each spouse fulfill the others sexual needs

    1 Corinthians 7:2-5 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. 3 Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband (both are consensual in pleasing the other with sex). 4 The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife (one flesh). 5 Defraud ye not one the other (from sexual intercourse), except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again (in sex), that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency (self-control).

     
  3. Do not mix together with fornicators

    1 Corinthians 5:9 I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:

     
  4. Abstain from fornication

    1 Thessalonians 4:2-4 For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.   3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: 4 That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;

     
  5. Flee fornication

    1 Corinthians 6:18   Flee fornication. 

     
  6. Be afraid of the Lord’s judgments

    Psalm 119:120 My flesh trembleth for fear of thee; and I am afraid of thy judgments.
the wrath of God is on fornicators
Colossians 3:5-6 Mortify [or put to death] therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: 6 For which things’ sake (fornication, v.5) the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
 
Fornicators shall be punished
1 Corinthians 10:5-8 But with many of them (Israelites) God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. 6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. 8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
 
DISINHERITED FROM THE KINGDOM OF GOD
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators…shall inherit the kingdom of God.
 
The kingdom of god
Revelation 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
 
FORNICATORS HAVE THEIR PART IN THE LAKE OF FIRE
Revelation 21:7-8 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.  8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers [or fornicators], and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part (for a thousand years) in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
 
FORNICATORS ARE OUTSIDE OF THE CITY
Revelation 22:14-15 Blessed are they (part in the first resurrection) that do his commandments (they do not fornicate), that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.  15 For without (“outside the city,”NLT) are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers [or fornicators], and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
