BE WARNED: To Flee From The Wrath Of God To Come

THE ATTRIBUTES OF OUR GOD

Exodus 34:6-7 And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will BY NO MEANS clear the guilty [releasing from a charge]; visiting [punishing] the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.

OUR GOD IS AN ANGRY GOD

Nahum 1:2,3,6,7 God is jealous, and the LORD revengeth; the LORD revengeth, and is furious [WRATHFUL];the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies.3The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked [let go unpunished]: the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.6 Who can stand before his INDIGNATION? and who can abide in the fiercenessof his anger? his FURY is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him. 7 The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.

HE IS ANGRY WITH THE WICKED EVERYDAY

Psalms 7:11 God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day [Continually,constantly, always]. 12 If he turn not, he will whet [sharpen]his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready.

A BELIEVING, BAPTIZED CHRISTIAN CAN BE WICKED

Acts 8:12-13 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. 13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.22 Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee. 23 For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.

THE CERTAINTY OF GOD'S WRATH

Malachi 3:5-6 And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts. 6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

HIS WRATH IS MOMENTARY

Isaiah 54:8 In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy Redeemer.

Deuteronomy 9:18 .... because of all your sins which ye sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.

BEHOLD THE SEVERITY OF GOD

Romans 11:22 BEHOLD[consider] therefore the goodness [Kindness]and SEVERITY OF GOD: on them which fell [Israel], severity; but toward thee [Elect Gentiles], goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off [from the blessing;face the Severity of God- 1000yrs].

THE WRATH OF GOD REVEALED IN THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST

Romans 1:17-18 For therein [Gospel of Christ v16] is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. 18 FOR the wrath of God is revealed [Pres,Pass ;made known]from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

THE WRATH OF GOD UPON SONS OF DISOBEDIENCE

Ephesians 5:5,6 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, HATH ANY INHERITANCE IN THE KINGDOM of christ and of God. 6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things COMETH [Present tense- coming] THE WRATH OF GOD upon the children [Sons] of disobedience.7 Be not ye [Pres,Midd, Imp] therefore partakers with them.

THE WORKS OF THE FLESH

Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

THOSE WHO DESPISE

Romans 2:3-4 And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God? 4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering [slow to anger]; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

TODAY HE IS SLOW TO ANGER

2Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering [slow to anger] to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance [change]

THERE IS NOW NO CONDEMNATION

Romans 8:1 There is therefore NOW no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

BEING NOW JUSTIFIED BY HIS BLOOD

Romans 5:9 Much more (beyond common salvation) then, being NOW justified by his blood [on the mercy seat], we shall [Future] be saved from wrath through him (Christ our high priest).”

CHRIST OUR HIGH PRIEST IS THE PROPITIATION FOR OUR SINS

1 John 4:10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins [ by His own blood offering]

PROPITIATION: TURNING AWAY OF THE WRATH OF GOD

Numbers 16:46-48 And Moses said unto Aaron [the high Priest], Take a censer, and put fire therein from off the altar, and put on incense, and go quickly unto the congregation[church in the wilderness], and make an atonement [Propitiation] for them: for there is WRATH GONE OUT FROM THE LORD; the plague is begun. 47 And Aaron took as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the congregation; and, behold, the plague was begun among the people: and he put on incense, and made an atonement for the people. 48 And he [as a high Priest] stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed.[stopped]

CONTINUOUSLY DELIVERING US FROM THE WRATH TO COME

1 Thessalonians 1:10 And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead [to be our High Priest Act 13:33,Heb 5:5], even Jesus, which ~~delivered~~ delivering us [Present tense] from the wrath to come.

WHEN IS THIS WRATH COMING?

Romans 2:5-9,11 But after thy hardness and impenitent [not repenting of sin] heart treasurest up [are storing up]unto thyself wrath against THE DAY OF WRATH [Rom 2:16] and revelation of the righteous JUDGMENT OF GOD; 6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds [labour,works]: 7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and ~~immortality~~ incorruption, ~~eternal~~ agelasting life: 8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, INDIGNATION AND WRATH, 9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;11 For there is no respect of persons with God.

WHEN THE LORD JESUS SHALL BE REVEALED

2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 ...., WHEN the Lord Jesus shall be revealed [appearing, coming] from heaven with his mighty angels, 8 In flaming fire taking vengeance [revenge, retribution] on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9 Who shall be punished with ~~everlasting~~ age lasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

TERMS USED TO DESCRIBE THE WRATH THAT IS COMING

1 Corinthians 3:15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: ...

Matthew 22:13 ..., Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Matthew 13:42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Matthew 25:41 .., Depart from me, ye cursed, into agelasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

Matthew 5:25 ...,and thou be cast into prison.

Luke 12:5 .. Fear him, which after he hath killed[body] hath power to cast into hell [Gehenna]; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.

Luke 12:46 .., and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.

Luke 12:47 ..., shall be beaten with many stripes.

Revelation 21:8 ..,shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

BE WARNED TO FLEE FROM THE WRATH TO COME

Matthew 3:7-8 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them (the multitude in Luke 3:7) , O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee [escape] from the wrath to come?8 Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance [Outward Change] :

WRATH OF GOD DEFINED

Hebrews 3:10-12 Wherefore [Forty years long Ps 95:10] I was grieved with that generation,and said, Theydo always errin their heart; and they have not known my ways. 11. So I sware in my wrath, THEY SHALL NOT ENTER INTO MY REST.) 12. Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief [faithlessness], in departing from the living God.

LET US LABOUR

Hebrews 4:9,11 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God (“lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years,” Rev.20:4). 11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief [disobedience].

THE WRATH OF GOD ABIDES ON THE UNFAITHFUL

John 3:36 He that believeth [Pres, act] on the Son [heir of all things heb 1:2]hath ~~everlasting~~ AGELASTING LIFE: [to enter into that rest] and he that believeth not [Pres, act] the Son shall not see life; but THE WRATH OF GOD abideth [Pres,act remains]on him.

GOD HATH NOT APPOINTED US TO WRATH

1 Thessalonians 5:8-10 But let us [Elect 1:4], who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. 9 For [because] God hath not appointed [destined, ordained] us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 Who died for us, that,

BUT TO OBTAIN SALVATION WITH AGE LASTING GLORY

2 Timothy 2:10-13 Therefore I endure all things for THE ELECT'S sakes, that they MAY also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with ~~eternal~~ agelasting glory. 11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him [now to self life], WE SHALL ALSO LIVE WITH HIM: 12 If we suffer, we shall also REIGN WITH HIM: if we deny him, he also will deny us: 13 If we believe not, [that wrath is coming] yet he abideth faithful: [it will certainly come] he cannot deny himself [as a Judge].

SERVE, KISS AND TRUST THE SON

Psalms 2:11-12 SERVE THE LORD WITH FEAR, and rejoice with trembling.12 KISS THE SON [High Priest, King, Judge], lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their TRUST IN HIM.
