The Children of God: Born To Enter into The Kingdom

February 26, 2006

A natural family
2 Timothy 4:19 Salute Prisca and Aquila, and the household [3624 oikos – a family] of Onesiphorus.

A spiritual family
1 Peter 2:5 Ye also [“elect,” 1:2; “begotten us from above,” 1:3, 23; “obedient children,” 1:13; “called,” 1:15; “redeemed,” 1:18; “chosen of God,” 2:4], as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, [3624 oikos – a family] an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

The family of God
1 Peter 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house [3624 oikos – a family] of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

National Israel was the family of God
Amos 3:2 The Lord said, You (Israel) only have I known of all the families of the earth…”

Matthew 10:5-7 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: 6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house [3624 oikos – a family]  of Israel. 7 And as ye go, preach, saying,  The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Now The family of God is the church
1 Timothy 3:15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house [3624 oikos – a family] of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth

the truth of the gospel
Colossians 1:5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel.

our gospel
2 Thessalonians 2:14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Elect gentiles are now permitted in the family
Ephesians 2:19 Now therefore ye (elect Gentiles in the church at Ephesus 1:1-4) are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household [3609 oikeios - belonging to a house or family, domestic, intimate] of God.

Family members by water baptism
1 Corinthians 12:12-13 For as the body (human body) is one (unity) and has many members (diversity), but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ (“the church which is His body,” Eph.1:22-23). 13 For by one Spirit (His influence, direction, and illumination) we (the called saints – many members) were (in the past) all baptized (in water, see the context 1:13) into one body – (“Christ,” v.12; “He is the head of the body, the church,” Col.1:18)whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free -- and have all been made to drink into one Spirit (oneness & unity without respect of persons).

the gospel of the kingdom calls for baptism
Acts 8:5,12 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. 12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. 14..Samaria had received the word of God…”

The family of faith
Galatians 6:10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith [or the family of faith].

your calling and election is unto the kingdom
2 Peter 1:10-11 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure[safe from danger; without any doubt]: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall   11 For so an entrance shall be ministered [provided or supplied] unto you abundantly into the everlasting age-lasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

The elect church and her children
2 John 1:1 The elder unto the elect lady (the church – the family of God) and her children (the members), whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth.

the Children of god are born of god
John 1:11-13 He (Jesus) came unto his own, and his own (“His people,” Mt.1:21) received him not (as “the son of God,” v.34; as “the Christ,” v.41, as “the king of Israel,” v.49). 12 But as many as received him (“a remnant according to the election,” Rom.11:5), to them gave he power [or right] to become the children of God, even to them that believe [present, active] on his name [“his name is called The Word of God,” Rev.19:13]:  13 Which were born, not of [out from] blood, nor of [out from] the will of [out from] the flesh, nor of [out from] the will of man, but of [out from] God.

To receive Him or not to receive Him
Acts 28:17,23-24 “…Paul called the chief of the Jews together…23… to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening. 24 And some believed (received Him) the things which were spoken, and some believed not (received Him not).”

some received his Words
John 17:6-8,24 I (Jesus) have manifested thy (His Father’s) name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word. 7 Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee. 8 For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me. 24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

 The words of age-lasting life
John 6:68-70 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. 69 And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God. 70 Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?
The good news of the kingdom
Matthew 4:23 “.. Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom…”

Begotten through the gospel
1 Corinthians 4:15 For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.

unto you It Is Given to know
Luke 8:10-11 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. 11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

FROM ABOVE
James 1:17-18 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. 18 Of his own will begat he us [“He chose to give us birth” NIV] with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures

Born from above to see the kingdom
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again [or from above,” YLT; NJB], he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Who was Jesus talking to?
John 3:1-2 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles [or signs] that thou doest, except God be with him.

A teacher of Israel
John 3:10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?

Eyes enlightened to see the kingdom
Ephesians 1:18 The eyes of your understanding having been enlightened; that ye have known [or to see – same word as in John 3:3] what is the hope of his calling (“unto his kingdom,” 1Thes.2:12), and what the riches of the glory (of the kingdom Mk.10:37& Mt.20:21) of his inheritance in the saints (“in the kingdom of Christ,” Eph.5:5).

Seeing the reward affects the lifestyle
Colossians 3:24 Knowing [or Gk. oidaseeing – same in Jn.3:3] that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

1 Peter 3:9 Not rendering [or returning] evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing (or Gk. oida - seeing) that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.

To not see life is to not enter into the kingdom
John 3:36 He that believeth [present, active] on the Son hath [is esteeming or regarding] everlasting age-lasting life (to live and reign with Christ): and he that believeth not [present active] the Son shall (future) not see life; but the wrath of God abideth [or awaits] on him.

Matthew 19:17 And he (Jesus) said unto him, …if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. 24.. It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God

To see the kingdom
Matthew 16:28-17:2 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see [Gk. oida – same as John 3:3] the Son of man coming in his kingdom. 17:1 And after six days (on the 7th day) Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, 2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light

Born out from water and Spirit
John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of [or out from] water (a symbol of the resurrection) and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
The kingdom is not for everyone
Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

The Pharisees rejected the will of the
father by not being Water Baptized
Luke 7:29-30 And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John. 30 But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him.

Water baptism is a symbol of the resurrection
Romans 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

1 Corinthians 15:29 Otherwise, what will they do who are baptized for the dead, if the dead do not rise at all? Why then are they baptized for the dead?

 The resurrection is a birth
Acts 13:32-34 And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers, 33 God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee. 34 And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise,  I will give you the sure mercies of David.

Isaiah 26:19 But your dead will live; their bodies will rise. You who dwell in the dust, wake up and shout for joy. Your dew is like the dew of the morning; the earth will give birth to her dead

The children of God have hope in the resurrection
1 John 3:1 Behold [Gk. oidasee – as in Jn.3:3] what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us [born from above Jn.3:3], that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. 2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know [Gk. oidasee – as in Jn.3:3] that when He is revealed [or when He appears], we shall be like Him (in the resurrection), for we shall see Him as He is. 3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.(NKJ)

The children enter into the kingdom
by resurrection birth
Matthew 19:24,28 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. 28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me (children are followers, Mk.10:24;Eph.5:1), in the regeneration (the resurrection birth) when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

inherit the kingdom by resurrection
1 Corinthians 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

 children are the heirs
Romans 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

The children of promise are
born after the Spirit
Galatians 4:28-29 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise. 29 But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.
They are God’s chosen heirs of kingdom
James 2:5 Hearken, my beloved brethren (the children of promise Gal.4:28), Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?
