Be not unequally yoked with the military
2 Corinthians 6:14,17 Be ye (the saints in the church 1:1) not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
 
Military service encourages the works of the flesh
Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
 
 A soldier is trained first to kill
1 Peter 4:15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters.
 
War is about vengeance!
Romans 12:19-21 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. 20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. 21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
 
You cannot love your enemy as soldier
Matthew 5:43-44 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.
 
Neither can you love Jesus
John 14:15 If ye love me (Jesus), keep my commandments.
 
The elect are enlisted in Jesus Christ’s army
2 Timothy 2:3-4 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4 No man that warreth [“engaged in warfare,” NKJ; “in active service,” NAS; “serving as a soldier,” NIV] entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.  
 
Our war is spiritual
Ephesians 6:11-12 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.    
The war against the soul
1 Peter 2:11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul
 
Fighting bodily appetites
1 Corinthians 9:26 “…I fight: not as one who beats the air. 27 But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection [“I beat my body and make it my slave” NIV], lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified (“from living and reigning with Christ a thousand years,” Rev.20:4).
 
A great fight of afflictions
Hebrews 10:32 But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions;
 
The good fight of faith
1 Timothy 6:12Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called...”
 
Our goal
Matthew 25:21  His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
 
To have part in The first resurrection
Revelation 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
 
The crown of righteousness
2 Timothy 4:7-8 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
 
The cost is great
Mark 9:43,47 And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell gehenna, into the fire that never shall be quenched:  47 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell gehenna fire: 
 
Soldiers of Christ may be defeated in the wilderness
1 Corinthians 10:5-6 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. 6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
 
Our weapons are not carnal
2 Corinthians 10:4-6 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;  6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. 
 
Jesus did not take up arms to kill His enemies
1 Peter 2:21-23 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:  22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: 23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: 
 
He had twelve legions of angels at His asking
Matthew 26:53 "Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels?
 
Jesus died for his enemies
Romans 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son…”
 
Walk even as he walked
1 John 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
 
As He is, so are we in this world
1 John 4:17 Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.
 
Recompense to no man evil for evil
Romans 12:17-18 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. 18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
 
Pay your debt – love one another
Romans 13:8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
 
The armies of the earth shall go to war against Jesus
Revelation 19:19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.
 
 Jesus returns with his elect army
Revelation 19:14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
 
The called, and chosen, and faithful
Revelation 17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
 
Jesus shall destroy all the armies of all the nations
Isaiah 34:2 For the indignation of the LORD is against all nations, And His fury against all their armies; He has utterly destroyed them, He has given them over to the slaughter.
 
Together with Jesus they shall rule over the nations
Revelation 2:26-27 "And he (in the church v.18 – a good soldier) who overcomes [in the war], and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations -- 27 'He shall rule them with a rod of iron; They shall be dashed to pieces like the potter's vessels' -- as I also have received from My Father;
